Hello everyone, my name is Jonathan and I am a high school junior. I am planning to apply for sports management programs in the future. Today, I am fortunate to have invited Wang Tao for an interview. The content of the interview mainly addresses some questions I have regarding the sports journalism industry.

Wang Tao is an experienced football sports journalist and a reporter for the "Football Night" program at the China Central Television. He has long been involved in front-line event reporting, and we can see him during the national football team's game reports. Wang Tao also has his own Weibo and TikTok accounts.
As a student deeply interested in sports, I naturally developed a strong interest in the field of sports management. Although I am quite familiar with "sports," "management" is not my strong suit. Consequently, I have many questions and doubts, so I am eager to have someone answer my questions and clear up my confusion. Therefore, I took this opportunity to invite Wang Tao to answer some questions about aspects of the industry I do not understand. The following excerpt is from our interview.
Interview:
Jonathan: Great. Could you please give us a brief self-introduction?
Wang Tao: My name is Wang Tao, and I have been reporting on the front lines of soccer for 24 years, working on CCTV's "Football Night" program, mainly responsible for covering major soccer matches, including the Chinese Super League, national team games, and many amateur competitions.
Jonathan: Before you set off on your distinguished career, what specialized professional training did you receive?
Wang Tao: My undergraduate major was in journalism, so I have a solid professional foundation. Coupled with my personal interest in soccer, I've participated in many trainings organized by my workplace and have self-studied a great deal to stay at the forefront of the industry.
Jonathan: Did your passion for football and television make you choose this career?
Wang Tao: Indeed, soccer and television are where my greatest passions lie, which is why I've chosen this path to combine my interests with my work. I believe this industry is a great integration of the two, and therefore, it's a direction in which I will continue to strive.
Jonathan: What is the most unforgettable moment in your many years of work?
Wang Tao: There have been many unforgettable experiences, but the most special was covering the 2002 World Cup in Korea and Japan with Team China. It was more than just work; it was an honor, a feeling that was entirely different. Although I have covered many international competitions since, the experience of having the Chinese team participate is the best and most special. Watching matches without Team China feels more like being a bystander. This is also a kind of encouragement and motivation that has kept me going in this job, and I also hope that the Chinese team can return to the World Cup. Although it may not happen at the moment.
Jonathan: Out of all the people you'veinterviewed, is there a particular athlete or story that's unforgettable?
Wang Tao: Certainly, take Behram Abduwelfor's instance, his story is deeply touching. He is a newcomer to the Chinese national team, and before that, he was not only the pride of Xinjiang football but also a valuable asset to the national team. At just 21 years old, he scored a crucial goal for the national team in a key match, helping China advance to the World Cup qualification playoffs. His background and the adversity he faced in his football career have been a great inspiration to many. When Behram Abduwel was a child, he and his brother lost both their parents, but both children loved playing football, so their first coach took them to places like Shandong for youth training. However, they couldn't afford the plane tickets, so his elder brother gave up the opportunity to become a professional football player for his younger sibling. It could be said that their childhood was very tragic,
but it was these harsh experiences that drove Behram Abduwel to work harder and take his training more seriously. It is these qualities that ultimately led to his success.

Jonathan: What do you think is the most critical element in sports reporting?
Wang Tao: Covering live matches, undoubtedly. That irreplaceable element is the raw allure of sports. Experiencing the sweat of the players, the passion of the audience, and the unpredictability of the matches on-site—something that no other form of reporting can compare to.
Jonathan: Where do your inspirations usually come from?
Wang Tao: Inspiration is everywhere; sometimes it's a moving story, sometimes it's a simple scene, or even a minor episode with fans off the pitch that can inspire me.
Jonathan: How important is sports management to the development of China's sports industry?
Wang Tao: This field is in dire need of professional talents. Although there is a lot of room for improvement, good
sports management can provide athletes with an excellent environment for growth, promoting the development of the sports industry.
Jonathan: Beyond entertainment, what deep meaning do you think sports encompass? Wang Tao: Sports itself is part of culture, transcending language and cultural barriers, conveying values of unity, perseverance, competition, and respect. It's not just an entertainment waiting to be consumed but an integral part of spiritual life.

Jonathan: How will the sports news industry change in the future?
Wang Tao: With the advancement of technology, traditional media is giving way to digital media. The avenues of
information transmission are becoming more dispersed and diversified, and we need to learn to communicate effectively on these new platforms.
Jonathan: Do you have any advice for students like us who want to enter the field of sports management?
Wang Tao: Learning and practice are equally important. Theory needs to be validated through practical application, and at the same time, we need to maintain a strong passion and sensitivity to the industry.
Jonathan: Thank you for taking the time to share so much valuable insight.
Wang Tao: You're welcome, I hope my experience can be of help to you. I wish you success in your studies and future
career.

That concludes our interview. I've not only resolved my own queries but also gained a deeper understanding of sports journalism.
I hope this interview has been of some help to you in front of the screen.
Until next time.
